Portrait or Personal Image - John Snell

I've been looking through viewfinders for forty years, but feel like I'm still learning to see. I worry less about the technical side of photography than I probably should and am thrilled, instead, when what I see actually ends up in the image.

I love to be outside, anywhere and anytime, and consequently many of my images are of nature. While I love to travel and see the world, I often photograph scenes within a few miles of where I live in Central Vermont.

I still have rolls of film in my fridge since I bought my first digital camera four years ago. I'm now on my second and third, a pair of SLR Pentax, which I love because they are small yet powerful.

The image of me that accompanies this bio is a thermal image taken with an electronic camera that is sensitive to emitted heat rather than reflected light. In my work I teach people to use this remarkable equipment and find it another interesting way to look at the world.

Thank you for taking the time to visit the site. I hope you enjoy my work and welcome your comments anytime.
